The Field Exercise
|
Note: The Field Exercise has been held on Big Pocono mountain for the
last several meets. An informal yet fun event. Primary ops are conducted
using HF on 75 meter phone and VHF ops on 51.0 Mcs.*
There is plenty of room for teams to set up and they are usual about 500
hundred feet apart. The particpants can roam around the top of the mountain
and look at the other stations. Many participant's bring more than one
set. Ted, W3PWW mans the GRC-19 back at HQ. Many, many thanks to Ted for
hauling that GRC-19 to the rally each year.
*Megaherziskies are not recognized on this site, only real frequency
terms are used. What was wrong with Megacycles anyway?

"Point" Provides navigation instructions to
the new comers and controls entry and exit of the Field Exercise Area.,
MRCA rule #9 is that "you can not leave the mountain until you have
established contact with Base HQ on 3885." |
Brown
gives a little Camo Demo. |

Dale,
KW1I operates in Luxury, Note the newly installed racks. (AKA Bunks) |
K4CHE
has no problem contacting HQ, even without the radial kit for the GRC-9. |
Zorro
roughs it in the field. MRCA operations rule number 4 is that the first
one on top of the mountain gets the bench. Zorro cheats a little with
the famous K4CHE "Exec I"power supply that is used for the GRC-9,
RS-1, RS-6 etc.

Chris, AJ1G's neat GRC-9 setup. " I don't need no stinken
bench." |
What does not belong in this pix? |
The
Delco 5300 did a nice job of contacting each station on the mountain. But
did not cut the mustard back to base HQ. |
"Yes,
that correct two Large with everything on it." |
