Comparison with the HT-1 "Village Radio"
Same Microphone/Earphone mount.
Push to Talk switches are the same.
Same chassis.
The main box is the same complete with the ribbed corners.
End caps. OPS/FM-1 B on the left.
Even the little bracket for the allen wrench is the
same.
Battery cases.
The OPS/FM-1B(gray radio) has the same holes for the straps as the Village
Radio.
Conclusion: The hardware is the same for both the Hallicrafters OPS/FM-1B
radio and the HT-1 Village Radio. The aluminum chassis and fittings are
of aircraft quality. What was the use for the OPS/FM-1B ? My best guess
that the unit was utilized for overseas airfield/OL support such as security
and maintenance and possibly integrated into the "Village Radio"
program in Vietnam.
