                     THE  FIELD EXERCISE



Note: Al, N3FRQ conducted a ops briefing back at HQ.Rain showers were expected, warm tempertures, and calm winds. Everyone agreed to go ahead and assault the mountain, the convoy would depart ASAP.
   Half way up the 2000 foot mountain I noticed that it was getting foggy but somehow the conditions did not seem right for fog. It was then that I realized that the convoy was actually climbing up into the overcast cloud layer.
 


    Dale's M886 truck is out there somewhere.



   "Oh Brown where are you"
 
Brown attempt's a checks in on 3885 -----but is having problems.
  
    Al breaks out the wire and reels out
a short counterpoise.


Mean while while WE are out in the clouds, and bugs, and rain . . . Dale, Kw1I and Dennis, W7QHO are in under cover. Dale's converted M886 Dodge Ambulance is now utilized as his Comm Truck.
Comm gear consists of a GRC-106, GRC-9, and a PRC-77 in a AM-2060 amplifier/power supply.
